| April 19, 2009 – 48 Hour Film Project Film Blackout |

At the last minute on Saturday night Christopher J. Buzzell joined the team of Too Smart Guys that drove in all the way from Wyoming as leading man and associate producer. The team is director/producer Peter Hickerson, writer Geoff O’Gara, and cinematographer/producer Patrick Lawson. The beautiful leading woman is Nelle Olivier. The film also features Brian H. Scott. Since Buzzell was working late on Saturday for Miss USA 2009, the team didn’t start shooting until midnight. They worked the cameras with locations in Centennial Hills and downtown Las Vegas. They finally wrapped shooting around 2pm on Sunday, leaving only four hours for postproduction. Even though the film needs more work in post, it turned out pretty good considering the 19-hour schedule. Even if the film is considered horrible, the amount of laughter makes up for it. Buzzell said that this team is amazing and he would love to work with them again. He also looks forward to viewing the final cut of Blackout when it is ready. Click the photo for more information. |

Madso’s War stars Mathew Marsdon (Rambo, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen) and Kevin Chapman (Mystic River, Blow) and revolves around the Irish mob in Boston. Marsden plays Mike "Madso" Madden, a small-time thief with connections to the Boston rackets who tries to walk away when two guys on his crew are murdered -- but soon realizes he's next on the hit list. Having lived in Las Vegas for 9 years, Buzzell said that seeing a casino in the middle of the woods was a bit surreal at first. But then again so is seeing one in the middle of the desert. A fun way to pay the bills is working as a precision driver. Christopher J. Buzzell has done just that by booking a couple of days as a precision driver on the new film entitled Edge of Darkness directed by Martin Campbell and starring Mel Gibson. The stunt coordinator was Gary Powell. Buzzell said that the Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge and Boston Tunnel were shut down late at night so that the scene could be shot. What a blast! In the last weekend before the summer movie season starts, Universal Pictures' Baby Mama opened in first place with an estimated $18.3 million from 2,543 theaters. Averaging $7,184 per theater, the Tina Fey and Amy Poehler comedy was made for about $30 million. New Line's Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay, starring John Cho, Kal Penn, Rob Corddry, Roger Bart and Neil Patrick Harris, pulled in $14.6 million from 2,510 theaters, an average of $5,804. The comedy sequel carried a budget of just $12 million. Last week's champ, Lionsgate's The Forbidden Kingdom, added $11.2 million for a total of $38.3 million. Landing in third, the film features the first team-up of Jackie Chan and Jet Li on the big screen. Universal's Forgetting Sarah Marshall also dropped two spots to fourth with $11 million. The comedy, budgeted at $30 million, has earned $35.1 million in two weeks. Fox Walden fantasy-adventure Nim's Island remained in fifth place, taking in another $4.5 million and pushing its four-week total to $38.9 million, compared to its budget of $37 million. Other newcomer, 20th Century Fox's Deception debuted in the 10th spot with only $2.23 million from 2,001 theaters, an average of just $1,111. The thriller stars Hugh Jackman, Ewan McGregor and Michelle Williams. Meanwhile, Helen Hunt's new romantic dramedy Then She Found Me opened in 9 theaters and made $74,400.
